Here we would like to present a small selection of our projects from various subject areas. Some projects have been with us for many years, others are brand new….
Species protection & monitoring
Citril finch species protection program in the Black Forest
The species protection program of the Freiburg Regional Council aims to help stabilize the population of the citril finch Carduelis citronella in the Black Forest.
OekoFor provides ecoPi-recorders for acoustic monitoring.
Reintroduction of common terns in Switzerland
Common Tern breeding colonies have become rare in Switzerland. Sound dummies are used to acoustically simulate active colonies at suitable breeding sites and thus successfully attract common terns.
OekoFor provides ecoPi-recorders for attracting common terns, whereby the recorders are also used for visual & acoustic monitoring.
“Neeracherried” in Switzerland
The Neeracherried is a fenland conservation area in Switzerland and is of central importance for many bird species as a breeding and resting place. The regular monitoring of the protected area also includes a survey of the bird species present, in particular the various species of rails.
OekoFor provides ecoPi-recorders for acoustic monitoring.
“Bremgartener Meadow” in Baden-Wuerttemberg
More information on the project will follow soon
The “Bremgartener Meadow” is one of the largest contiguous lowland meadows in southern Baden and an important meadow breeding area. A large part of it is managed by “NABU-Südbaden”.
OekoFor provides ecoPi-recorders for acoustic monitoring.
Capercaillie monitoring in the Bavarian Forest National Park
More information on the project will follow soon
The monitoring is intended to help record the mating activity of the capercaillie in the Bavarian Forest National Park in more detail.
OekoFor provides ecoPi-recorders for acoustic monitoring.
Wind power: bat & bird protection
ProBat & ProBat-Inspector
ProBat is an online tool for calculating bat-friendly operating algorithms for wind turbines. The ProBat-Inspector online tool can be used to check compliance with the switch-off specifications based on the operating times of the wind turbines.
OekoFor is continuously developing the software.
IdentiFlight
IdentiFlight (IDF) is an automated, camera-based detection system for large birds for the needs-based shutdown of wind turbines.
OekoFor accompanies the validation process of IDF in Germany.
Research participations
NatForWINSENT II
NatForWINSENT II - Nature conservation research in the onshore wind test field - is a BfN research project to investigate the behavior of birds and bats at wind turbines (WTG).
As part of the project, the occurrence of insects on wind turbines is also to be recorded and the dependence of bat activity on insect abundance investigated.
OekoFor is developing an insect photo trap to record insect abundance.
Red kite & Honey buzzard habitat use model
More information on the project will follow soon
Modeling the habitat use of the red kite and honey buzzard for the designation of wind power priority areas in Hesse.
OekoFor is involved in the calculation of the habitat use models.
